LifeNet Signs an Exclusive License with NASA

After some tough negotiations with NASA to license their patented “Deceleration Limiting Roadway Barrier”, we were off to Johnson Space Center in Houston Texas to sign an exclusive license for commercializing the patent.  I must say that the whole negotiation process was nail biting and a lot of fun.   Michelle Lewis NASA’s Licensing Manager I worked with, made everything seem so effortless.  Angela Pate and Kim Tesch-Vaught from Focused Management Solutions and Startup Quest came along for moral support.

Quest Team 4At first sight, by participating in a entrepreneurial simulation with the University of Florida and Career Source North Central Florida, I had no way of knowing that this mock co would become a reality.  The program is called Startup Quest and here is the whole team at the pitch competition for NASA’s “Deceleration Limiting Roadway Barrier”.  Going around the table from left to right is mentor,  Dr. Mark Davidson, Yolanda Castillo-Baron, Matthew Basham, Mary Ohlfs (me), Jason “J.P. Brown”, Jo Harben and Tommy Caulkins.  our team won 2nd place out of 14 competitors.   At programs end, Yolanda and myself agreed we were on to something.  So after the 2013 Christmas holidays we got together to explore the possibilities.
